Our Environment

The Earth is the resource that matters most. We understand, now more than ever, what humankind requires in order to be healthy and survive. Yet many are ignoring the negative impact we are having on our planet. Costs are skyrocketing due to weather damaging military bases, homes, and property around the globe. New York should be a model for the rest of the United States in reducing environmental impact and development of green technologies.

My economic plan focuses on waste-to-energy plants, which would help us dispose of our waste, provide us with heat and electricity, and reduce our environmental impact (and provide us with additional public funds). There are a wide variety of technologies available and we should be prioritizing sustainable long-term solutions over shortsighted profits. I will fight to prioritize long-term sustainable environmentally sound projects, including: developing a public transit system that connects the entire state with high speed railways to reduce car usage, increasing electric car options to be sold in this state and fight for manufacturing opportunities within this sector for Monroe County, and fight for green technology manufacturing here and throughout the state to provide jobs and boost green technology availability. Additionally, the industrial farming industry is facing some major changes as hydroponic farming has become advanced enough to support urban farming with low water usage and by utilizing large multi-level buildings. Rochester could turn some of our unused industrial spaces into mass production hydroponic urban farms that could provide our area with fresh produce year round and on a large scale. I will fight for funding to develop this type of effort to help our residents have high quality produce readily available. I pledge to fight for all economic plans to integrate environmentally sound projects throughout New York state that will prioritize long-term solutions over short-term gains.
